COMLEX-USA Level 3 is a two day examination that assess foundational competency domains required for generalist physicians to deliver safe and effective osteopathic medical care. Competency assessment occurs in the context of osteopathic medicine as an independently practicing osteopathic physician. The exam consists of four, 3.5 hour sessions and contains 420 questions in MCQ format and 26 clinical decision making cases that include four questions each. Passing COMLEX Level 3 indicates the candidate has demonstrated competence in the foundational competency domains required for generalist physicians to deliver safe and effective osteopathic medical care of patients.
