Infectious Disease Clerkship

Clinical medicine is built on a foundation of basic medical sciences.

The goal of the Infectious Diseases portion of the Internal Medicine Clerkship is to expose the student to a variety of patients presenting with common and uncommon bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic diseases. Students will become familiarized with the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with both common and unusual infectious diseases. They will be expected to take a detailed patient history, do a physical exam that utilizes hypothesis testing, and order and interpret lab tests that support their differential diagnosis.
