Pathology Clerkship

Clinical medicine is built on a foundation of basic medical sciences.

The Pathology Clerkship offers students an inside look into the pathology and the process of diagnosing a disease based on the cellular level of an organ system. Students are expected to know the cellular basis of pathology and apply that to the function of the organ system. Therefore, it is crucial for students to have a strong working knowledge of cellular homeostasis and adaptation before the progression of the disease into a pathological state, and also to know what the cellular response to a repeated offense is, whether being cellular death, or uncontrolled cellular proliferation.
