Angela Cantrell, PhD

USMLE Step 1 Review National Instructor of Anatomy

I've been teaching the Anatomical Sciences (gross anatomy, embryology, neuroanatomy, neuroscience) for more than 20 years. I've taught professional students in the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Health Professions, and Nursing. I've taught Step 1 Board prep for the last 5 years. I grew up in rural West Tennessee. As an adult, I've lived in Seattle, Washington and Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Angela Cantrell (Ph.D) completed her doctorate in Neuroscience at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and postdoctoral training in Neurophysiology at the University of Washington. Dr. Cantrell is currently an Associate Professor in the Departments of Anatomy & Neurobiology and Medical Education at the University of Tennessee Health Science. She was recently appointed as the Assistant Dean for the Preclinical Curriculum in the College of Medicine. At UTHSC, Dr. Cantrell has been involved in Medical Education for the past 20 years and has served as both instructor and course director for multiple anatomical sciences course for medical, physician assistant, nursing, and dental students. She has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards including Outstanding Course Director, Outstanding First Year Lecturer, Golden Apple for Excellence in Teaching and SGAEC Excellence in Teaching and was selected for membership in Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Cantrell has been involved in Step 1 Board Prep for the past 5 years with Becker USMLE and Medical School Companion.
