Dermatology Clerkship

Analyze and manage skin conditions during the Dermatology clerkship.

The goal of the Dermatology clerkship is to offer students the opportunity to learn basic approaches for diagnosis and management of common skin problems that present in clinical practice and address other key areas of dermatologic knowledge. In addition to recognizing skin problems, students learn the principles and practice of topical therapy with wet dressings, steroids, emollients and antipruritic therapy. Students are also trained to recognize major life-threatening skin diseases and skin markers of systemic disease. Finally, all students become facile with dermatologic vocabulary in order to generate clinical differential diagnoses and accurately describe a rash or a lesion to a dermatologist.
