Eric Neilson, M.D.

Dr. Neilson was born and raised in Long Beach, CA and attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology with High Honors.

He then went on to teach high school science before pursuing medicine at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, where he achieved Highest Honors.He returned to Los Angeles, CA as a family medicine resident at University of California, Irvine affiliated Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, with an emphasis in Tropical Medicine.

As a resident, Dr. Neilson spent time training in Cameroon, Zambia, Honduras, and India, taking his passion for medicine in the pursuit of aiding those with little access to health care around the world. After completing residency, he worked as a family doctor for the Department of Veterans Affairs and in Taupo, New Zealand, while awaiting an assignment with the Peace Corps. The Peace Corps’ Global Health Service Partnership, a collaboration with Seed Global Health and Massachusetts General Hospital, provided the opportunity to teach medicine at the University of Dodoma in Tanzania while completing a Global Clinical Education Fellowship.

Dr. Neilson then achieved a decade long goal of returning to Ross University as a professor to continue a tradition of outstanding medical education and with a commitment to participate in the healthcare of the Dominican people.He is an active participant in several student organizations, including co-faculty advisor for the Salybia Mission Project, and dedicated to providing clinical research opportunities for students.
