Hello Jax and Falcon, I believe that all types of masks or face coverings are better than nothing. Some are more effective than others like the N95 mask. I believe that surgical masks are effective as well.

They are very effective
The presence of the mask reduces the possibility of getting infected
So yes I believe it is effective be it surgical,N95 or non surgical

The real answer is that it comes down to the size of the virus versus the size of the fenestrations in the mask
